Grape Liatiko is from Crete, Greece. Grown especially in Heraklion and Lassithi.

"Light cherry red. Light aroma of red cherry, both fresh and dried, invitingly bitter-sweet. Deliciously dry, slightly leathery tannins. Needs more time to show the perfumed, mature Liatiko character but this is fresh and lively now. Long, too, for a seemingly lightish wine. A food wine par excellence, though the tannins are smooth enough that you could drink this on its own if you are OK with tannins. If you can possibly buy more than one bottle and keep one for a few more years, you will be rewarded by Liatiko's silky, mature complexity."

Cretan variety Liatiko gives us wines with relatively low colour intensity but intense nose of rich, ripe red fruits and sweet spices. Medium body with soft tannins.
This native Cretan varietal reveals spicy red fruit aromas and flavors, with a mouth-filling, medium body, and soft tannins, with some added complexity and richness from new oak aging. Polished and elegant, this pairs well with red meats and cheeses.
